Author Support Services | Bringing your book to life

Editing is charged on a pay-as-you-go basis to keep it affordable!

We provide three types of editing in a comprehensive and thorough service. Editing is the backbone of our business, and is where we started out. Book quality hinges on its editing, so it’s something we take very seriously.

Our editing keeps you, the author, at the centre. You work side by side with your editor, developing a close relationship so the editor can speak for you in your manuscript, retaining your authentic voice and helping you express yourself as eloquently as you had dreamed you could.

You will be supported through the process with regular check-ins with your editor, and you will remain in control of the final wording. Your editor is there to offer expert opinions on wording and structure, but you are the publisher and you make all the decisions.

To help you prepare for editing, we offer a ‘Style Guide for Author’, which gives you tips on our preferred conventions in grammar and punctuation. This is an abbreviated version of the in-house Style Guide we use to edit your manuscript.  Download this valuable resource today to help you self-edit your manuscript with confidence and submit a professional document to your editor!

Structural Editing
3 run throughs – a detailed service focusing on content, structure and style to ensure the manuscript is readable, cohesive and logical, that it flows well, and its message is clear and aligned with your goals. Includes overall review, micro structural edit and extensive author input. Includes weekly check-in calls and constant inclusive feedback.
Copy Editing
2 run throughs – text is edited word-by-word and line-by-line to improve sentence structure, ensure consistent tone and voice, and address any gaps or repetitions. Only available on manuscripts which have already undergone structural edit. Includes weekly check-in calls and constant inclusive feedback.
2 run throughs – spelling, punctuation, grammar, word choice, typos, basic formatting, check links work.
This makes a total of 13.5c per word, so if you have a 50,000 word manuscript you can expect to pay approximately $6750 (inc GST) for editing and proofreading. Please note that this figure is not exact, because the word count for your book will usually change during the editing process.

If this all sounds a bit overwhelming, you’re not alone; most aspiring authors find this part of the process daunting. That’s why I offer a free consultation to help you get clear on what’s involved and why editing is such an important part of your author journey.
