Author Support Services | Bringing your book to life

Testimonials

“As a first-time author, I was spectacularly unaware of both the methods and the chronology of tasks that lay ahead of me along the publication pathway. After 7+ sporadic years of labouring my way through each chapter of Force Field, I came to a point where I needed a specialised outfit to successfully convert my manuscript into book form and ready it for introduction to the outside world.

From the moment I made contact with Alex Fullerton and her team at Author Support Services, I knew I was in good hands. Anyone who has written a book will know that the finish line is not where you think it is, and it’s imperative to have a strong team of advisors and technicians who can take your pet project all the way.

Without exception, my interactions with Alex, Joanna, Natasha, Sylvie and Louise were supportive, professional and refreshingly honest. The editing process improved the flow of my content without removing my voice. The final book design and artwork inclusions were brilliantly executed, leaving me with a finished product that far exceeded my expectations.

My new book would still be no more than a long-winded Word document without the guidance and expertise of this impressive team. I would not hesitate to recommend Author Support Services to anybody aspiring to bring their own story to life in print.”

“It was a lucky day for me when I was referred to Alex for help with the layout of my book. Without the expertise and professionalism of Author Support Services, it would have been just an essay but it is now a real book with a presentation to be proud of.

It’s always a pleasure to deal with someone who is a master of her craft, and any author who deals with Alex will enjoy her very human manner and on-the-spot help. I strongly encourage anyone who has a story to tell to engage Author Support Services to design and lay out their book.”

“My book Terminal to Remission with Cannabis Oil has been a long ten years in the making. After nine years spent procrastinating, I started working with Author Support Services and their encouragement and expertise helped me finally finish writing and publish my book. I am very excited to have just received my very first print copy.

Alex has been so helpful each step of the way throughout the process. Some parts of the writing journey were a little daunting, however, Alex and her team were able to break it down into bite-sized chunks. They were always so easy to communicate with, often responding to my questions the very same day. Thank you, Alex, for helping me finally see my book come to fruition.”

“Working with Author Support Services was an experience that encouraged me to not only grow as an author but to grow as a person too. Everyone I worked with brought an element of magic to my words and effortlessly enlivened the meaning behind my manuscript. I particularly loved working with Alex as her capacity to compassionately hold my story in such a tender way enabled me to feel confident in publishing it. I would not have done it otherwise. When looking to publish my story, my main requirement was to collaborate with a service which possessed compassion and understanding. Author Support Services ticked these boxes and many more. As the name suggests, they offered support in all the ways that were necessary to birth my story into the world. I am so grateful to have found them and was lucky enough to collaborate with them for my second book also! “

I had been trying to write my memoir for several years. Mine is trauma based so the memories often got stuck on the page and stowed away in the desk drawer. In time, I felt an urgency to record the past events as my legacy for my children and for other survivors of child abuse.

After contacting Author Support Services, Alex promptly and appropriately matched me with the perfect writing coach and editor for me. We decided on a suitable plan which included online coaching sessions and written feedback on my writing.

My whole team had full consideration for my writing wellbeing and encouraged me endlessly to speak my truth. Undoubtedly, I was challenged not knowing about the ‘story arc’. After many reconsiderations and rewrites with empathetic and professional feedback, I finally reached the end of a full manuscript I am now confidently ready to share and publish.

I wholeheartedly recommend Author Support Services for all of your writing needs; the efficacy of the whole business is to be admired.”

Being My Own Witness

“A Walk in Nana’s Garden was inspired by my granddaughter Tilly, who from an early age enjoyed being in the garden. Her curiosity inspired me to capture our interactions in written form. I have always enjoyed reading, and in particular, reading with children. Writing the book was easy; understanding how to publish it was not.

First I had to convince my daughter, Tilly’s mother, a talented artist, to illustrate the book. Eventually she agreed, and the results speak for themselves. My next challenge was, how do you produce a book? I am technology challenged and not afraid to admit it. After some research I found Alex and Author Support Services, right on my doorstep in Beerwah.

From the first meeting with Alex at her home, Kerryn, Tilly and I knew we had found the right person to guide us on our journey. Warm, patient, professional and extremely knowledgeable about the business of publishing, we felt supported throughout the whole process.

Alex and her team have provided the guidance and support we needed to ensure our dream of writing and illustrating a book together has become a reality. We cannot recommend Author Support Services enough. If you want someone to hold your hand and guide you gently through the process, Alex is your angel.”

“Without Alex and her team, my book would still be a series of blog articles on my computer. Alex cajoled out of me all that was needed to write and publish my first book and meet all the deadlines along the way. I am grateful for the professional support and thrilled to share this book with the world. My mantra is to empower organisations to embrace sustainable solutions, so if this book encourages just one business to embrace sustainability, it has done its job. Thankyou Alex.”

“‘You should write a woo woo book,’ I was told after a series of unworldly events began happening at my home. After finding the answers to what turned out to be an intriguing puzzle, I began searching for someone who could help me put my experiences into words. Being wary of publishing companies in general after a friend had an unfortunate experience, I was reluctant, but Author Support Services came highly recommended. From the first day working with Alex and her team I was made to feel comfortable and at ease with the writing process. Alex explained the detail in increments so that I did not become overwhelmed. The rapport and trust developed during this process was very special. Alex did not hinder my suggestions and changes but only intervened if it was in my best interest to do so. That way I was always in control of my own creativity to birth my ideas into the world. I felt extremely vulnerable about my writings and `coming out’ as an author but Alex gently transformed my innermost fears through a most cathartic experience. Thank you for being honest in all that you do and I look forward to working together in the future.”

“Books for Little Bandits is a collection of children’s story books using my painting, printmaking and digital techniques to illustrate and write the books. My books give families and their children an insight into life’s adventures in a colourful fun way, sparking their imagination and curiosity.

While it was so much fun creating my books, it felt like I was caught in a wild storm trying to weave my way through the self-publishing world. I began to research and try to find someone who understood where I was coming from and the way I wanted to present my work. Then, like a ray of sunshine I found Alex Fullerton and her business Author Support Services through a recommendation from the print company IngramSpark.

From the moment we chatted, Alex was very supportive and super encouraging. I felt like I was being rescued! I would highly recommend Alex and her professional team. Author Support Services are very easy to communicate with and offer strong encouragement to help you grow and learn. They are a great team for the soul. ‘You can do this,’ Alex often told me.”

“It was an absolute breeze working with Alex and the team at Author Support Services. As a nonfiction ghostwriter, I knew what to do when it came to crafting an engaging book that would educate and inspire readers, but I only had a very basic understanding of the nuances of the publishing process. That has changed thanks to Alex, who has shared her knowledge and provided guidance while still putting me in the driver’s seat on all decisions. This meant every decision I made was an educated one.

From the moment the team came on board, they have worked on my book with the same love and care I had writing it. The publishing process has felt so seamless because I was always across what was happening and what the next step would be. What we have created is something I am truly proud of. Thank you!”

“From what started as a wild idea to transform my bakery recipes into a cookbook, Author Support Services have made the process so enjoyable. The sky’s the limit with these guys – anything is possible.

Having no experience myself with writing or editing, Alex and her team’s support, guidance and expertise made the process so effortless. My recipe pages were transformed into something I am truly proud of.

Thank you Author Support Services for turning my dream into my very first cookbook.”

“Reflecting on my time working with Alex, Sylvie and Natasha at Author Support Services, this entire experience has brought an immeasurable amount of joy, confidence and professional development to my life. I have completed TWO powerful, impactful and amazing pieces of work with Alex and Sylvie in only ONE year. These ladies are efficient, professional, dedicated, experienced and passionate about the work they bring out into the world. I started working with Alex during my first year in business for myself and only had minimal experience in the writing/entrepreneurship world. After our year together, I am now a confident yoga teacher, reiki healer, workshop coach and published author of two amazing books. The writing, editing, designing and publication process was only one element of the journey of Author Support Services. Working with Alex is more than bringing your writing to print – you will level up in your personal and professional life, and truly blossom into a more confident version of yourself.

I began working on Balance Amongst the Chaos: The Daily Journal when I was completing the metadata for my first book, Balance Amongst the Chaos: Your Step-by-Step Guide to Wellbeing Through the Chakras. The inspiration for this journal derived from a personal method of how I organise my days and bring mindfulness techniques and utilise a higher consciousness for creation. Already being a client of Alex’s, I was ecstatic to bring her my new idea. After meditating on the inspiration, I shared my thoughts with Alex and her response truly fuelled my work on this project. Alex will see your vision, believe in your ability to convey your messages on paper and lead you in the best direction. Her positive response to my new idea (even though we were in the process of finalising my first book) was all the motivation I needed. Alex believed in me, and that encouragement spilled into my work of my next project.

I immediately started working on my new manuscript. This time, being MUCH more confident in the process of book writing, I flew through the new project. The inspiration was flowing and I was so excited to bring this product to life. Alex taught me so many valuable skills working on my first book together, and I carried them into this new project and was able to correct a lot of the mistakes/errors I made during the first one. It’s all about the progress with Alex!

One of the most valuable aspects of working with Alex is how honest she is. I experienced a lot of important, and necessary, ego deaths throughout our time together – in the best possible way. Listen to her guidance, value her expertise and let her guide you through your project. I can promise, her input is remarkably valuable. She has an amazing eye for book publication and will lead you in the best direction to bring your book to life!

When this project came to the design phase, we tried a new product with the printing company that we thought we would love and complement my project perfectly. However, after it was printed it did not match the energy of the book and was not how we imagined it to be. I did not experience any anxiety or nervous energy relaying this roadblock to Alex. She wants you to LOVE your product and create the perfect book for your business and desired readers. We discussed the complication we encountered, brainstormed a few ideas and fixed the problem immediately. Alex, Sylvie and I were so happy with our changes and it felt great to have a team of women on my side, supporting the creation of my ideas. They truly want to see you bring your ideas to fruition.

I cannot express how valuable my experience working with Author Support Services has been. In one year, I have levelled up personally and professionally, and have helped so many people take accountability of their mind, body and spirit through my books. I am so proud of my products and cannot express how important it is to hire a mentor and team like Alex and Sylvie. Their services were worth every penny and I would do it again in a heartbeat. They will guide you in the best direction with your ideas and help you see it to fruition. Alex, thank you so much for guiding new authors like me in the world! I cannot wait to continue working on future projects together when the time comes!

“And then there were two. That special kind of buzz you get from holding a book with your name on the cover is just as wonderful the second time round. Even after a long pause between projects when everyday life got in the way, working again with Alex was straightforward and easy.

With consistent and considerate contact, Alex has managed to keep my passion for publishing and sharing my stories alive, something the less confident among us need at times. Her enthusiasm is contagious in the best way (not the scary way) making even the boring form filling a simple structured task that’s completed in no time.

Without a doubt Alex’s work and support has helped bring into the world many stories and books that would otherwise have been trapped inside a creative’s mind. Making dreams into real books to be shared is what Alex’s Author Support Services does.

Lulu’s Sweet Tooth joins my first book Pete’s Surprise as my pride and joy thanks to Alex and her team.”

“I had five books previously published by another publisher over the years and thought I was so lucky to have come across them. When they retired and dissolved the business I was upset at the thought of never finding anyone again. I searched so many new publishers and couldn’t find anyone I could trust. Then I came across Alex Fullerton and read all about Author Support Services and I was so impressed. I could not believe that I found someone who could do everything for me. I had so many questions as I didn’t understand the format and layouts. I was so lucky to find Alex who was understanding and listened to what I needed and where I was coming from. Alex and her team were so patient and nothing was too much trouble. I still have more books to be reprinted and Alex makes it so easy for me as she organises everything from formats and uploads to distributions and marketing, and offers so much advice. Honestly, I do not know how she does it for the cost. On a very personal note, Alex supports me in another personal project unrelated to writing which is extremely kind. So thank you Alex and your team for sharing my journey. I couldn’t do it without you.”

“So, just because I’ve self-published a few books (19 now), doesn’t mean I’m all over it. On the contrary, I need every bit of help I can get, and Alex Fullerton and her staff at Author Support Services helped me dramatically and personably every step of the way with my latest book ‘Lifestyle Reset: The essential guide to healing you and the planet’. Prior to ‘Lifestyle Reset’, Alex helped me to update ‘In The Raw’, one of my best sellers to date. I remember saying to Alex that I want to bring ‘In The Raw’ up to date with life now and I want it to be something I’m happy to leave behind as my legacy.

I love writing, I love to express in words on paper how I feel about everything, and if I have something relevant to share, then share I will. Having said that, words still need to be crafted, checked and assembled in a way that makes sense. In my head, a sentence or paragraph may look terrific, but it may not read the way it should to my reader. With a little bit of finesse, copy editing and a different perspective, my words can come to life – that’s the difference in birthing a piece of work that is average as opposed to writing something that I am really proud of. As I write this I can almost imagine Alex giving me another way of expressing these words.

You may have something you want to say, information you want to teach or a message or memoir you want to leave behind. Whatever it is, don’t wait until all the circumstances for you to write are there. Get the help you deserve from Alex and her team and write your brilliance.

Thank you again Alex and team for all the work you put into helping my expression come to life.”

“As a first-time author, I was very unaware of the process required from commencement to completion. I am so relieved to have made the call to Alex. She was always a pleasure to deal with when discussing all aspects of writing and constructing my book. All of my questions were answered with clear, concise direction which served as an education for further writing. Consistent communication was enjoyed throughout the entire process with Alex and continued with Tamara, Tanja and Sylvie. All of this exemplified what a team should be. I would recommend Author Support Services to any prospective authors as well as established authors. Listening to and helping people has been a major role in my life and Alex and her team made our dealings so comfortable. In fact, I experienced such a caring attitude that it often seemed as though the book could have been their own. Alex exhibited so much empathy and patience, which was always going to be necessary with me as I have been an impatient person. I remain forever grateful for all of my dealings with Alex.”

“My experience with Author Support Services has been one I will never forget. Writing a memoir was one of the most difficult projects I have ever embarked upon, yet having the support of this incredible team made it achievable. They provided the services they promised but also offered a sense of emotional support and encouragement that I did not expect. Like many of us, I have a hectic life running my own business and being a mother, so the hope that one day I would publish my own book was beginning to fade away. That was until I was recommended to try Author Support Services. They were the structure and the knowledge that brought my book to life. I cannot thank Alex enough for her gentle guidance, her patience and her transparency. I have loved every second of working with this beautiful team of people, who I will now wholeheartedly recommend to anyone wanting to write a book. It is rare to work alongside individuals willing to see and hold the entire beings we are, so I appreciate having had this opportunity to do so. Alex, Natasha, Kim, Krishna, and Sylvie, thank you for providing me with a safe and loving space to express myself in the form of a self-doubting author to now a very grateful published one.”

“I truly cannot express in words how enjoyable my experience has been working with Alex and her team at Author Support Services. I stumbled upon Alex’s website while researching how to properly and professionally ask someone to write a foreword for your book. I found Alex’s blog post written on this topic and then explored her entire site and realised she was the exact person I was manifesting. Before I met Alex I was a confident yoga teacher and reiki healer. After working with Alex, I can proudly say I am a confident yoga teacher, reiki healer and self-published author.

After exploring Alex’s site and discovering how perfect her services are for new and inexperienced authors, I quickly reached out to her and have had the most enjoyable, exciting and educational experience since. I came to Alex with an unfinished Google document, minimal confidence in myself and my work, and so many questions about the self-publication process. She has held my hand throughout the entire process and has taught me how to properly format a manuscript, create a flow to your literature, design and structure a captivating piece of work, market products and truly step into the role of being a published author.

Throughout my time working with Alex, I learned valuable lessons and truly tapped into my creative energy like never before. While we were working on editing, designing and publishing my first book, I received inspiration for a second piece of literature to complement the book. I quickly shared my ideas with Alex (before they even completely downloaded in my mind) and she was incredibly supportive. She will see your vision and guide you in the correct direction to help bring your beautiful writing out into the world.

Alex’s support and excitement about my new idea was all the encouragement I needed. I wrote a checklist of all the important facets of a perfect manuscript that she taught me and went to work on my new idea. I brought Alex my new manuscript and she was blown away by my progress and new manuscript. I said, “You are an amazing teacher!” We continued working together to simultaneously bring both pieces of literature to life.

Alex treats every book like it is her own and truly relishes in your milestones. Your wins are her wins and you can feel that energy through phone calls, emails and text messages. She is honest, meticulous, creative and empathetic. Her team cares so much about the work they produce and their relationship with their clients. Each invoice was worth every single dime and it was my favourite bill to pay. I truthfully believe I am a wiser, more creative and definitely a more professional woman after meeting and working with Alex. I cannot recommend Author Support Services enough and can guarantee you will have a transformative and amazing experience bringing your literature to life if you work with Alex.

Alex, thank you for sharing your passion, creativity and expertise with the world. On behalf of all aspiring authors, we appreciate you deeply and are better having met and worked with you!”

“Thank you, Alex and all your team. I never would have completed this book without you! When Jazzy Doodie (the furry star of the book) came to live with me, I noticed that she was shy with kids who didn’t know how to approach her. I wanted to show kids how to be friends with a dog. I don’t have kids of my own and all my teaching experience is with adults, so I was a very unlikely person to write a children’s book. Every time I got lost along the way, Alex and her team sorted me out and put me back on track, and their illustrator Honey’s wonderful images brought the words to life. I highly recommend Author Support Services.”

“I have worked with a number of publishers in the UK and the USA over a long career – some great, some not. Living now in Australia, I was hesitant about self-publishing my memoir, Almost Famous, about my sixty years in show business. But then I discovered Alex Fullerton and her Author Support Services, and took the plunge. If you want someone with expert knowledge of the process, real dedication to making the best of your book, and true diligence in attending to all the detail as the complex business progresses, then Alex provides it. She also has an efficient team behind her for all the different aspects. Great to find such an affordable service away from all the big city outfits!”

“During the COVID crisis and pandemic of 2020, a team of dedicated workers under the skilful guidance of Alex Fullerton helped bring my book to life. ‘Conversations with Strangers – the art of creativity and connection’ is about finding the unexpected joy and gladness when one encounters another. Finding new meaning, perspective, silence and creativity energises the soul and mind in our global chaos.

Alex diligently worked with her capable editor, book designer and team to shape the pages of my first adult book, bringing it into the world. With full colour, 162 pages of photographs, text, activities and poems, my book is now in my hands and heart. Alex also set up a printer account for me with the printer and distributor IngramSpark. Her services at all times were professional and compassionate, two qualities one needs when navigating the writing journey. I recommend you browsing her website and taking the plunge.”

“Alex and her team helped me published my first book Kei’s Legend of the Rainbow. Based on that successful experience, I had no hesitation in asking Alex to help me publish my second book Kei’s Legend of the Stars.

During the publishing of the first book, I had lots of questions and uncertainties, and certainly no ideas of the necessary sequence of actions required. Alex patiently and fully answered all my queries and lessened a lot of my anxieties. The result of all Alex and her team’s guidance and explanations from the first book is that for the second book we eliminated a lot of hesitancy and uncertainties. I knew what to do and when.

The publishing of my second book was quick and smooth and, excitingly, we have a great product to show for it. Thank you to Alex and your team for your help in achieving that.”

“Thank you deep from my heart for bringing my much loved book ‘Loss, Love and Lessons – Healing pet loss and grief to life’. It is with honour that I write another testimonial for Alex and her team at Author Support Services as my third book is birthed. The journey to birth a book is long, challenging, fun and all the rainbow of emotions in between and taking this journey with Alex and her team makes it a supportive, exceptionally easy and fun one. Absolutely everything is looked after so all you need to do is be in your creative juices and actually write your book; they take care of all the rest.

Having written a few books now I have also learnt a lot about the process and due to the excellent editing and proofing I have learnt how to be a better writer. The team pulled my book together beautifully and Sylvie the designer finished the process with a beautiful pink cover that is matched perfectly to my business brand. ‘Heartbreak, Healing and Happiness’ and ‘Grief, Grace and Gratitude’, her sister books, are very thrilled to welcome ‘Loss, Love and Lessons’ to the Life in the Pink book family. I love my new book and owe a debt of gratitude to Alex and her magnificent team. Without you there would be no books. So, again, the biggest PINK thank you. Here’s to the future, a continued partnership and book number four…”

“I have so many amazing feelings about the journey I completed with Alex and her team. I’d been writing and rewriting my book for what felt like forever. I’d get to a certain point and then realise I wanted to change something… so I’d go back to the beginning and start all over again. I kept doing that until Alex kindly told me to stop and actually write it all the way to the end. Then she provided a team who supported me in doing exactly that. Without them, I’d probably still be writing around and around in circles to this day. Alex and her team guided me in every possible way, providing me with information and advice I didn’t even know I needed. Their loving, strong encouragement got me to the finish line and I doubt I’d have been able to do it without them. I felt heard, understood and nurtured throughout the process. And yet all the while, the entire team demonstrated professional service at the highest standard I could have hoped for.

I’m so proud of the book I ended up with. My memoir has become the masterpiece I always envisioned it as, thanks to the Author Support Services expertise. I’m already looking forward to working with the team on my second book. Thank you so much, girls. Keep on rocking it!”

“Thank you, Author Support Services, for helping me bring a dream to life. Many years ago, I remember attending a presentation Alex did about writing a book and at the time I thought ‘I’ve got nothing to write about’. Yet here we are.

Writing this book has been a huge journey personally and professionally and it would not have been possible if not for the support of Alex and her amazing team. Your professionalism, understanding and patience have been such a beautiful thing throughout this process and I felt very supported, something that is so important when taking on such a big project.

I have loved working with you all and hope to do so again one day (I need a rest first!). In the meantime I am going to enjoy the next part of my book’s journey – sharing it with the world. Thank you.”

“Emotionally Happy Homes is the first book I have bought to life. I could not have done it without Alex and her team of amazing professionals.  Getting my writing to a place of completion was one of the hardest things I have done. Alex and her team made it not only possible but gave me a result that was better than what I imagined.

Every step of the way I felt supported, valued, and that I had a team cheering me on. Even at my most vulnerable, which happened a lot throughout this process, Alex showed up with just what I needed every time.  She always found a way to get me back on track and transform the ‘speed humps’ back into the flat road.  Every phone call and meeting was uplifting and welcoming. I was always left feeling great about myself and my book.

Anyone who has a dream to write a book and publish it, lean into Alex and her team.

They will make it happen in the most amazing, supportive, professional and integral way possible.

I have so much gratitude for Author Support Services.  Thank you, Alex.”

“Working with Author Support Services is a dream come true for a self published author. Not only did Alex and her team of publishing experts support me through every step of the process, they have a wealth of knowledge and are always there for advice after the book is out there in the world.”

“I have recently had the absolute privilege of engaging Alex Fullerton and her team at Author Support Services to help me bring my very first book to life, Stories of HOPE Australia ‘Everyday People, Extraordinary Stories.’

I cannot more highly recommend Alex and her team to anybody wanting assistance to publish their book. They went above and way beyond to help me have my book published in a short period of time and always met my requests with the utmost patience, kindness and professionalism. This helped make the journey so smooth for me.”

“When I first started this writing journey, I never thought I would publish my compilation of poems and artworks. For it to come together in print has been an exciting collaboration with you all.

The way in which you quietly and thoroughly handled this process was efficient. Minor and major adjustments back and forth helped to iron out and to improve the quality of the body of work. The writing format using small letters and no punctuation must have been an editor’s nightmare! Not to mention the tidying up of the grammar, spelling and word structure was very helpful.

The overall process was smooth and not at all overwhelming. I feel I have made friends and connected with a group of individuals who understood my work and my creativity.”

“My first meeting with Alex to discuss publishing my book was a positive one. I found Alex welcoming, informative and very professional. Throughout the processes of editing, book cover design, printer account creation and the myriad of paperwork, Alex and her team were guiding, caring and accommodating. I thank you Alex and your team for your help in publishing my book ‘Kei’s Legend of the Rainbow’. I especially thank you Alex for your help at one time when I was stuck and found it difficult to accomplish a particular task.”

“Alex, I am so glad we crossed paths. I really enjoyed the journey. You made what would have been a daunting experience really manageable and structured. You picked the best women to work with me on my book. Thank you so much for what you have contributed to me and my life. I don’t think you quite understand the little gift you give us authors; it really is such huge generosity. Looking forward to marketing this book and then onto the next one with you and your beautiful team.”

“In the Raw was first published in 1993 and I needed help to bring it up to date and modernise the look.  I knew the content was good, but I wanted to keep it relevant and ineeded a professional organisation to make that happen.  Alex and her team at Author Support Services were amazed at how the content has stood the test of time, and brought out the best in it. It’s a love project, and now it’s absolutely beautiful in both print and ebook. I am so proud of it and I couldn’t have done it without them.  Natasha came to my home office to work through my files and get everything to Sylvie, who used her design magic to really make it pop. It’s now in full colour and full of recipe photos bursting with flavour. I now have an account with their printer and I’m thinking of updating some more of my books!”

“Alex and her amazing team at Author Support Services have handheld me throughout this process and made it as seamless as possible. What most of you won’t know is that I haven’t read the book from beginning to end – I just couldn’t do it but thanks to the amazing team I had supporting me, I didn’t need to. Alex and her amazing team were my knights in shining armour. They provided me with guidance and encouragement and their gentle nudges and kind words always got me back on track when I most needed it. When something didn’t flow, they would tell me. When my dates didn’t match up, they would encourage me to track back to ensure it was accurate. I would have been lost without them. Thank you all so so much xox.”

“When I finally took the leap and decided to write my first book, I knew I wanted to self publish as an indie author. However, I had absolutely no idea where to begin. The best decision I made was to sit down and have chat with Alex Fullerton of Author Support Services, one of the most respected self-publishing companies in Australia. Alex has a team of expert editors, proofers and designers who she has hand selected to support you in every stage of the writing process. I was continually blown away by just how much they truly ‘got me’ and my vision for my book. Every aspect was covered, right through to distribution and marketing. To say I am ecstatic with the end result is an understatement. I am beyond grateful to you all!”

“Finding Author Support Services was the best discovery I have ever made. The support and advice that Alex provided through the whole process of writing and publishing my middle primary children’s book was seamless. As a first-time author I required lots of support and Alex was there for me at every turn. It’s one of those experiences where you don’t know what you don’t know until you start.  I am currently self-publishing my second book and I truly believe that ‘wanting to be a published author’ and my satisfaction of ‘being a published author’ was largely due to the expert team at Author Support Services.”

“I always knew I had a book in me – at the very least an intriguing autobiography that people could learn from. My decision to write a how to book for others that still included things that were deeply personal to me felt very important, even though I had no idea how I could make it all a reality. I’m very grateful to Alex and her editing, design and marketing team for honouring all of these desires as professionally as possible, and at a very reasonable cost. (I was initially nervous about the hourly rate model, but I’m happy to say they offered excellent value for money.) And I really appreciated the team’s dedication to answering any questions I had in a timely manner. I now have a book that my co-author partner and I can be proud of, with no niggling questions about whether anything could have been done better. We felt like we were part of a professional, experienced team – and Alex’s passion for supporting her authors even extended to helping us calm our book launch nerves!”

“Alex and her team were amazing in every single way in supporting me to have my words published. Their experience in producing a book that one can be proud about is solid. I felt fully supported throughout the whole process from manuscript to printed book. But not only was I guided by their professional expertise but also met in my needs for encouragement and a little love every now and so often. Their assistance made me feel confident that my book will be a beautiful resource that I can be proud of and that my industry is going to love. I can highly recommend Author Support Services to a seasoned or a newbie author. It will be a very memorable experience to have Alex and her team on your side.”

“I first met Alex when I attended one of her amazing courses on self-publishing! Alex’s knowledge is inspiring and her compassion contagious. My passion is to change the world and writing ‘Surviving the Devil, Escaping Domestic Violence – A True Story’ took me to very black places I had closed off emotionally in order to survive. Alex’s empathy and understanding was so comforting and I realised that Alex really cares about you and her passion is helping you bring your book to life. I thank you, Alex and team, for your patience and understanding. Being a first-time author, you helped make my journey a wonderful experience. Watch this space for my next journey…”

“As a professional speaker and owner of a sales training company, I know the importance of good training, so signed up to Alex’s book writing workshop. I left the workshop with a clear strategic understanding of exactly what each chapter of my book would contain and was impressed enough with Alex’s expertise that I hired her as my one-to-one book coach.

Rather than publishing The Million Dollar Handshake, I decided to convert all the book content into workbooks for my training bootcamps. In the first year alone, those bootcamps brought in more than $150,000 in extra business, far outstripping my initial investment with Alex.

Hachette – the second largest publisher in the world – then became aware of my work and offered me a contract. Before long, my book was entered in the London Book Festival and nominated for The Orion Publishing Group Business Book of the Year.

Today, I’m filled with gratitude for Alex’s skilled help in getting my book off the ground. It’s fair to say that without her expertise in mapping out and writing my book, I’d never have achieved the success I have now.”

“Such a big thank you for bringing my second book ‘Grief, Grace and Gratitude’ to life. I am thrilled to see my new book sitting proudly in the local bookstores, shining in the online stores and travelling around Australia and overseas into the hands of those who are looking to heal their grief. Once again I took an enlightening, empowering and exciting journey with your amazing team. I would not have been able to achieve this milestone without you all. You delivered all over again; your experience, passion, enthusiasm, feedback and support go over and above each and every time. Thank you again for being the godmother to Grief, Grace and Gratitude and her sister book Heartbreak, Healing and Happiness. I look forward to working on another sibling sister book this year. Let’s make it three books for Life in the PINK.”

“Writing a book can be similar to giving birth. It can be daunting, a bit scary, overwhelming and at times painful. I could not have wished for a better midwife than Alex to assist and coach me in the delivery of the Happy Mind Movement: Wake up, step up and own it. Alex was a great coach who supported me all the way with constructive feedback, editing and creatives ideas. She also helped me to see how the reader would perceive my message and where at times I didn’t have the clarity I thought I had in my message. I also loved the one stop shop Alex provided including coaching, editing, design and type setting. Thanks to Alex and her expertise it was an easy and enjoyable experience. I felt safe and supported all the way. Thank you Alex.”

“Writing my first children’s book was a daunting task, however having Alex Fullerton to guide me through the process gave me confidence and took away much of the anxiety.

Alex is professional yet very approachable and warm.  Her knowledge of the book industry is solid and as a result her advice and support led to me to have a successful and fulfilling experience of publishing my first book.

Not only is Alex a tremendous business woman, but she cares about her clients and gives you that personal touch.  I highly recommend Author Support Services and feel very appreciative to have worked with Alex and her team.”

“Professional, heart holder and butt kicker, with a sense of humour … that’s how I’d describe Alex Fullerton.  The standard of service provided by Alex and her team was outstanding. I didn’t realise quite how daunting the process of writing and publishing a book could be, so I sincerely valued and trusted the much needed guidance and support throughout every step of my journey publishing ‘Roller Coaster Mumma: The ride from birth to bonkers!’ Alex really understood my ideas and helped bring the creativity that was in my head to life. Alex guided me in making the difficult decisions and meeting deadlines, but most of all she held my heart and believed in me and my book!”

“My Life as Your Dog – Milestones, Messes and Mementos’ would still be hand written in a sketch book if I hadn’t met Alex.  I had a great concept for the book, I had basically written the content but I didn’t have a clue about bringing it to life.

As soon as I met Alex and discussed my book, I immediately saw a glint in her eye and knew she understood where I was coming from.   Not only was Alex personable, professional and knowledgeable, she appreciated and embraced my wacky sense of humour and even taught me a few new dog puns along the way

Alex has held the leash, helped me sit and stay, calmed me when I have been chasing my tail and encouraged me every step of the way.  The process was quite involved and if not for Alex I may not have seen my book in print. Now I am like a dog with a bone and about to get it out there for all the dog owners and lovers. I am so proud of the final product and now I have ideas for more books, I am excited all over again!

I highly recommend Alex, whether you are looking for someone to guide you gently or give you that extra push to bring your book to life, look no further.  Thank you Alex for your support, patience and expertise!”

“From the initial tentative email I had sent to Author Support Services, “Dear Alex, I have written a lot of verse and free verse and would like to publish a book of poetry” to the upbeat, encouraging response I received “Congratulations on writing your book”, I felt extremely fortunate to have found Alex.

I could not have asked for a more professional, nurturing and user-friendly experience than I had with Author Support Services. Alex encourages a writer to think outside of the box. I am forever grateful for her innovative and beyond-the-call-of-duty flair for editing. This was especially apparent when Alex was editing one of my poems and relayed to me that she had gone into her garden and tasted a bougainvillea flower, which she informed me tasted horrible and bitter – all for the betterment of my book – I took her word for it!

With Alex’s guidance and expertise I hold in my hands with pride, Emotive Poetry to awaken the senses and soothe the soul.  Special thanks also to the team of specialists Alex works in conjunction with, especially her designer Sylvie who executed the vision I had for my book far better than I could have imagined.”

“As I stand here with my brand new copy of my first children’s book, Pete’s Surprise in my hot little hands, I can’t help but smile at my dream made reality. There it is, my name on the cover of an actual book with my own characters and pictures inside.

In a perfect world I would tell you I came to Alex at Author Support Services with a well organised file full of illustrations and words and the confidence to know what I wanted and how to get it. Reality was a lot different. Disorganised as only a creative person can be, it took a woman like Alex with her outstanding listening skills to untangle it all and understand the way I did things.

With her endless patience and straight talk, Alex was there to take me by the hand and lead me (sometimes drag me) through the mind numbing territory of paperwork, applications and submitting, all the necessary steps it takes to get published. I am forever thankful for Alex’s magical ability to know the difference between when my life was too crazy to take even a small step forward on this project, and when I was procrastinating and indulging my self doubt.”

“Alex, you are amazing. Your expertise, passion, patience, editing and coaching allowed my book to come to fruition. You took ‘Heartbreak, Healing and Happiness’, and me, on a fabulous journey, one that I could not have travelled on alone and arrived at my destination in one piece. You were able to give me honest constructive feedback to enable my book to be more succinct and professional. Your editing was spot on and brought all my sentences together beautifully. You provided coaching and support when I felt the whole process becoming a little overwhelming. You provided enthusiasm and passion for my project and I always looked forward to speaking with you. You were able to direct me to third parties for design and printing elements. The knowledge you hold in this area is top notch and I am proud to recommend you to anyone thinking of starting this journey and wanting it to be a fun and fruitful exercise. Thank you again. You are absolutely wonderful and I so appreciate your help. My book and I owe you a debt of gratitude. I will be speaking to you soon to get started on number two.”

“A Stroke of Poetry is no longer a dream. It is now a book I can share with the world. My wish to self-publish my book of poetry would never have been realised had I not been introduced to the inspiring Alex Fullerton. Alex understood me. She understood why I wanted to do my book and where I wanted to go with it. Alex has not only edited, guided and mentored, but has been my confidante, my early morning/late night panic button recipient when I began to stress over the smallest of things. Alex kept me grounded and motivated and believed from the start I could achieve my goal. She gave me the confidence to keep moving forward with positivity, knowing it would all be good in the end. Alex is passionate about each and every one of her authors and has certainly gone that ‘extra mile’ and far beyond for me. I am ever so grateful for her input into my book, her ideas, her energy and most of all her expertise to make it all happen. I am delighted with my book and thank Alex from the bottom of my heart for doing what she advertises and ‘bringing my book to life’. If you have a dream to write a book, you should look no further.”

“Without Alex, ‘Pushing Shadows’, my first book of poetry, would not have been published. With heart, Alex helped me firstly sort through the ‘mind mess’, then with gentle prodding kept me on track, carefully nudging when needed to finally make it to the Brisbane Writers Festival 2015. What a huge achievement, which was only a dream til Alex helped bring it to reality. Thank you so much Alex, words aren’t enough.”

“After working with Alex to write my book, I can’t imagine how any writer could afford not to have her skilful, experienced and wise guidance. Alex has saved me countless hours of directionless work and bucket-loads of frustration. She has given me the priceless gift of having a clear direction in my writing process. This has saved me from experiencing my tendency towards writer’s block. Alex is the ultimate writer’s secret weapon. I can’t thank you enough Alex!”

“When I began the process of writing my book I quickly realised that my greatest problem was not so much being able to transfer my thoughts onto paper, it was far more the ability to understand how those words would be construed. Alex, throughout this process calmly, patiently, dilligently and determinedly guided my at times, rather effervescent ramblings and brought them to life in a form that is at once intelligible, yet uniquely and undeniably mine. I am deeply grateful that the mix of author/editor worked out so beautifully in this instance. You have done a wonderful job helping bring this baby to life Alex, and for that, I am eternally grateful.”

“Salt of the Sea is my first book and deals with the rough and tumble world of commercial fishing. I have been deeply compelled to share some of these unique and exciting stories with the general public. One of the greatest challenges I faced was to write in a user-friendly manner acceptable to industry experts and peers as well as non-fishing industry outsiders. I spent countless hours searching the web for editorial assistance and found myself drawn towards Author Support Services. Alex immediately understood my mission and very professionally went about turning my dream into reality, and there are already numerous signs that the book will be a success. When I feared I could go no further, Alex lifted me up to fight yet another round. Her enthusiasm and skill bought me to the finish line. The end result is a book that I am extremely proud of.”

“I connected with Alex quite late in the book writing process and I wish I had known about her services sooner. The book was okay before she had her way with it but after working with her, it was 100 times better. I’ve had rave reviews from readers across the world and I owe the response to Alex’s keen editing eye. She helped me bring order and structure to my ramblings. At the beginning, she asked me what kind of editor I wanted and I knew that I needed someone who would be direct and honest and really get to the core of what the book was about without getting emotionally invested in the way I worded things. Alex was perfect for this role. She didn’t hold back and always had the reader in mind when she made comments. Authors can be egotistical beings so it really helped to be reminded that it was about the reader, not so much about me. My book is having an impact because I had an awesome team behind me as I wrote it, and Alex was a key player. Her service was excellent and her advice stellar but she was also full of humour and quick to praise when she liked something too. I won’t hesitate to hire her for my next project, but this time she’ll be involved from the very beginning. Thank you Alex!”

“Writing a book together was a new challenge – we knew we both could write, but we’d never created something together before. We wanted to make sure the book flowed and there wasn’t an interruption to the reading experience when the voice moved from one author to the next. We also wanted to be sure that the book was well structured and made sense – that the reader nodded their head as the book moved from section to section, and didn’t furrow their brow wondering where they were being taken! Alex provided a structural edit of our final draft and gave us excellent suggestions for tightening the book in terms of how it was laid out and how to smooth certain sections. This process gave us a huge boost in confidence that we were releasing not only quality material, but a book that flowed beautifully and was a pleasure to read.”

“My entire business is built around producing an incredible book product, one in which is both well written and very readable and has a high quality print job- basically it needs to look and feel a million dollars. I believe everything is energy so it is important to me to work with people who truly love what they do, as this energy is also contained within the book. I am therefore extremely particular about who I work with on our book projects to achieve a great result. My books consist of 16 individual contributors each having a chapter dedicated to them. I want their voices to be heard whilst also allowing their personality and individuality to be expressed. Along with having a consistent feel across the entire book. I feel it takes a rare talent to balance both these aspects in the editorial process. Alex was brilliant in her turnaround times and met every deadline, she really understood the Q and A style and worked within that like a true professional. Love your work Alex!”

“Engaging Alex as my book coach has been one of the best investments that I’ve made in my own learning and development. When I set out to achieve my writing goals in January this year I didn’t actually realise that the process would be every much as fulfilling as the outcome. To be honest I was clueless about the process. I didn’t even realise that book coaches existed but thank goodness they do, and thank goodness I discovered Alex. Alex has been a true partner in my book project. She’s applied a balance of coaching and mentoring techniques with specialist advice, and hands on editorial support. Not once has she made me feel like the writing novice that I am. She has built my confidence and I believe that this is evident in the quality of my writing today. We’ve met fortnightly over Skype throughout the entire process, so my learning has been iterative. In January this year our initial coaching sessions established a much needed framework, focus and time frame for the book. Alex’s advice on the early chapters resulted in an effective structure for both the reader and the author. As the chapters continued, Alex introduced me to the reader’s learning curve and reinforced the discipline needed to keep the project on track. Now as we finalise the last couple of chapters we are down to the business end of engaging book designers, considering publishing options and determining the look and feel of the finished product. The goal is to have the final chapters completed by the end of July and the book published by September. With thanks to Alex this goal will no doubt be achieved.”

“My book ‘Fingers Crossed Across Australia’ would not have seen the light of day if I hadn’t found Alex. I was reading our local paper one day and there she was advertising her seminar to help would-be authors. The timing was perfect and we went from there. Alex guided me through every step of the way and I am so very pleased with the result. Please take a look at our efforts. All profits go to breast cancer research.”

“As a health coach, I thought writing a book was as simple as jotting my thoughts down and sticking all those bits together. When I started working with Alex in the editing process, the very first thing we did was go back to the most important questions: who are you talking to? And what do you want them to get out of it? From that moment, my message, voice and delivery got clearer and more impactful. Oh, how I wish I had done this process at the very beginning. I would have saved time, money and most importantly my sanity during the writing process!”

“I attended Alex Fullerton’s workshop in 2011 and then as a refresher in 2013. When I first attended her course I didn’t have a book so I quickly wrote an introduction for a book I wanted to write that fit with a core theme in my business. Two and a bit years later my first book is written! Alex simply ‘got it’ from the beginning and guided me beautifully towards the finished copy. All her support, red pen and keen eye gave my writing exactly it needed to become a high quality product. Thank you Alex, what I spent on the process was worth every penny.”

“I am so blessed to have met and worked with Alex.  She entered my life at such an important time when my book was finished but not edited. In only one set-price consultation, Alex helped me reach my goal to publish my book. She is professional and passionate and fully committed to her author support role.  I am so grateful she helped me turn my dreams into reality.”

“Author Support Services have been great to work with. I had a lot of information in my head that Author Support Services helped me to arrange in readable eBook format. Alex was professional, organised and patient as we worked together to establish office procedures and systems.”

“Alex, I can’t thank you enough for your commitment, enthusiasm and professionalism. Your knowledge is vast and your advice given with great thought and insight. You were referred to me by a fellow author, so I called you. That was the only conversation I needed to realise we were definitely on the same page (excuse the pun). Your passion and personable approach made the whole process easy and enjoyable. You listened and interpreted the brief accurately and had a clear grasp on my vision, then delivered a great result! You take the project on as if it was your own, which I believe is a rare trait. You also provide confidence and reassurance to the author in times of doubt! It has been a true pleasure and I look forward to working with you on my next book….”

“It was an absolute delight to work with Alex of Author Support Services. Alex has the natural talent of de-mystifying the whole self publishing process and ensuring your book comes together with grace and ease. I remember sending my first draft manuscript to Alex with trepidation and a little anxiety, as I was concerned that my book may lose its magical essence during the editing process. However, I experienced the complete reverse; the message within my pages flourished under Alex’s guidance and transformed into a beloved book filled with light and soul.  Thanks Alex for being a part of something so dear to my heart.”

“As a new author I felt overwhelmed. Alex guided me to find structure and decide what the real message was I wanted to deliver. This guidance gave me clarity and confidence to move forward in my writing process. Alex as an editor and support person tells what you ‘need to hear’ and not necessarily what you ‘want to hear’ in order to produce a quality product. I love this character trait in a person and it is invaluable in the process of writing. Alex’s advice and support made my journey an enjoyable experience that really helped me to develop and grow as a writer.”

“I was concerned that editing the book would mean losing my own flavour of writing, and that the book would lose its essence. In fact the opposite happened. The book now flows more easily and is easier for the reader to navigate. In my creative space it was important for me to have someone who could structure my writing with a straight forward, no nonsense approach. Alex knew how to ask structured questions from a reader’s perspective that kept me on the right track. Alex would be a great choice for any author in overwhelm, who wants direction and a professional feel to their book that they can be confident to promote.”

Some services advertise themselves as experts but you don’t always get value or personal service. But with Author Support Services, every question I asked was answered spot on. Alex had expertise in ALL areas of the book from editing, layout, page set up, chapter ideas, back of book copy, typesetting, the printer, and not to forget her AMAZING way in which she writes and even added a few great pointers in my chapters. Alex is extremely knowledgeable in the book editing industry, she knew EXACTLY what I needed to do. As mentioned in my book, I assumed an editor just edited the writing. I got soooo much more from Alex, her knowledge from all of the above helped transform my book into the finished product it is today!”

“The process of writing my first book was somewhat overwhelming until I was fortunate enough to be referred to Alex. The burden of mastering this unfamiliar work was lifted. Her advice was invaluable and her expertise and natural flair added enormously to the readability of the book. She was totally professional and indispensable as my editor and guide throughout the entire process. I know her input, skill and energy made a huge difference to the finished product. I highly recommend Alex as she is reliable and easy to work with, and adds a depth of expertise while retaining the author’s individual style and manner.”

“Alex was a dream with which to work. As an author presenting her first book for editing, I was understandably nervous. But Alex refined and finessed my book without trampling on the essence and feel of what I wanted to convey.

We likened the process to the giving birth and growth of a child. Our baby grew into a fully fledged young lady who was ready to be introduced to society!

Thanks Alex – you made it so easy.”

“I first met Alex at a writers’ workshop. Over the following six months, Alex’s editing skills and encouragement kept me on track to complete my first novel. Going from someone who had limited creative writing skills two years ago to completing my first book was a dream come true. I have Alex to thank for it, as well as my wife and family for putting up with my self absorption. I have since secured a publishing deal in the USA as well as a joint venture with an Irish company for the ebook.”
